HOW TO DRIVE SAFELY IN THE SNOW

Though Winston-Salem doesn't get as much snow as those up north, there are the occasional snow storms that swoop in. To prepare those of you for our next snowfall, we thought it would be wise to go over some crucial pointers to keep you safe on the road this winter.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS READY

Visibility is so important, especially in unfavorable weather conditions.

In order to properly see through your windshield, you're going to need to rely on working defrosters, headlights, and wiper blades. Please make sure these are operating. It's also vital that you remember to raise your windshield wiper blades whenever you notice that temperatures drop below freezing. The last thing you want to have to deal with are windshield wipers that have been frozen onto your windscreen. Furthermore, it would help if you kept some useful winter supplies and tools in your car. For example, an ice scraper or snow brush can help you speed up the defrosting process. And jumper cables can help you jump-start a weak battery.

DRIVING IN THE SNOW

When the road gets blanketed with a layer of snow or ice, it can make your car very difficult to stop. This is because your tires have a more challenging time gripping the roads. Experts recommend leaving an extra distance between you and the car in front of you. Additionally, don't forget to decrease your speed. When driving, don't forget to turn on your headlights to ensure everyone else can see you.

These are just a few of the many tips that can help you better prepare for driving this winter. If you need help winterizing your car, we invite you to bring your vehicle to the AC Auto Service Center experts.
